Happy Christmas!!

A rather strange medium, but the best way to wish all of our friends and family a wonderful Christmas time and (for those of you in northern Europe) warmest mid-winter wishes.

Pic 1 shows life just outside the fort at Cape Coast. It is hard to believe that only 200 years ago slaves were being led down those very steps (now a mass of colour and life) to work in the colonies - many passing through Bristol's docks. The fort is now listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a very sobering place to visit.

Further along the coast we have found ourselves the perfect place to spend Christmas - a stetch of palm lined beach in southern Ghana [www.greenturtlelodge.com & pics 2+3]. Many other overlanders we have met along the way are also converging here so rest assured, we'll be in good company!

Happy Christmas from here in cloudy mild Maidstone. Luca's excitement is nearly at fever pitch. When we're sitting by the fire on Christmas Day, we'll raise a glass of something suitable to you both on your beach in Ghana! Lots of love from Jane, Giovanni & Luca xxx

Hello! And a belated but very merry christmas to you both from your house! Really looks like you celebrated chrimbo in style.. It sounds like you're having such an adventure - i'm so jealous. It's freezing here! Xmas was Brilliant though. Rest assured we're looking after the house - it's looking suitably festive at the moment. Can't believe it's just 2 months until you come back - can't wait to see you both. Have a wonderful New Years Eve. Lots of love. Cal, Ferg and Polly xxx

Happy new year. Looks warmer there than here. We have just got back from a couple of days pedalling through the frozen wastes of Wales. Very beautiful but a bit tricky at times as we try to avoid the small ice rinks that spread across the roads at dodgy bends. Jeff says he didn't fall off as he stayed standing as the bike disappeared from under him. We are off dancing round the bonfire in the woods tomorrow with a few friends, Ruth and Jo included so will raise a glass to you both. Have fun yourselves. love Wendy and Jeff

Happy new year and well done on making it to Ghana. It all looks amazing. Its freezing here but it didn't stop us enjoying the fireworks from narroways last night. Hope you have a safe journey home with no more coup d'etats (the authorities will start getting suspicious). Love from us both x
